Here at Angelfish Opinions, people are at the heart of everything we do – from the thousands of participants who share their views with us, to the clients who trust us with their research, and of course, the team who make it all happen behind the scenes.
You might already be familiar with some of the friendly faces at Angelfish, including our Project Manager Ben and Director of Client Services Emma, but today we’re introducing someone a little newer to the team.
Meet Ellie. We asked her a few quick questions about working in market research, what she enjoys most about the role, and where she sees the industry heading next. Keep reading to find out more.
Hi Ellie! First off, why did you decide to pursue a career in market research?
I have always been fascinated by insights and the stories behind data – in particular understanding the why behind consumer behaviour. I studied Business and Marketing Management at university, where I learnt more about what makes good market research and the components to ensure a successful study.
What’s your favourite part of the job?
The people! Everyone in the team is so friendly, supportive, and always happy to help. I love that I can ask questions and learn from their experience, and that there’s a real sense of teamwork on every project.
What about a challenge you’ve recently faced and how you solved it?
Working at an agency means no two days are ever the same. A recent challenge has been juggling different projects with varying timelines, which often requires switching approaches quickly. There isn’t a one set solution basically, so I’ve learned to stay flexible, adapt my way of working, and communicate with others. It’s been a great learning experience and has helped me grow in confidence.
What are your professional goals for the next year?
I’m still new to Angelfish and the world of market research, so my main goal for the next year is to keep learning from the team and gaining experience. I also want to continue building my confidence and trust myself in my own work, so I can contribute more independently and take on new challenges.
And how about the next market research industry trend?
Possibly the integration of AI in market research. It can be challenging, particularly when it comes to losing human context in insights, as well as the risk of synthetic responses or fraudulent participants. That said, it could also be a real opportunity for the industry – especially in terms of efficiency and analysing large data sets. I think if used responsibly, AI can support researchers, but there are still many things it simply can’t replace to the same standard.
