Meet The Team: Five Minutes with Ben Plumb

People come first here at Angelfish Opinions, so we’re putting some of our amazing team in the spotlight so you can get to know them better!

You might have met our Project Executive Laura in the past, so here’s Ben, one of our other Project Executives!

Hi Ben! First off, why did you decide to pursue a career in market research?

The people element seemed great. I liked the idea of speaking to a variety of people; knowing that they were looking forward to going through details about the study, and being able to go into depth surrounding the topic of research is great. I love being able to be a little part of someone’s day, where they get to chat about their views and opinions.

What’s your favourite part of the job?

Piecing together the puzzle where possible; trying to get the most diverse pool of participants taking part in research, in order to get the views and opinions necessary to have the project reach its full potential. It is also great to be able to chat with people from all sorts of walks of life and brings different conversations on a daily basis.

Tell us about an interesting project you’ve recently worked on and why you enjoyed it?

Working on a sports news project for the BBC. I find this interesting as a sports lover myself and can chat with people all day about sports! It’s great to hear what sports means to other people and hear the ways that they indulge in sports content.

What about a challenge you’ve recently faced and how you solved it?

With challenges in general, I think it is important to identify potential issues early on so that you know how to handle them when they inevitably do arise. More specifically, I recently noticed that we had had a few more people than usual that were unable to make it on a scheduled day of research, but I added in some extra checks (in addition to our usual standards) to make sure everyone was still all good to go!

What are your professional goals for the next year?

To progress in the company and to further my industry knowledge, as well as my own skillset.

And how about the next market research industry trend?

I think it has to be something to do with AI. It’s all I see everywhere at the moment! Whether people have started using it to write for them, or asking it to summarise information, I feel like everyone is going to have a view on how it should (or shouldn’t) be used.

Who inspires you and why?

It’s cheesy, but it really is my grandad. He came from pretty humble beginnings, and made something for himself, becoming a well-respected name in his relevant business industry, by taking a risk on doing something that wasn’t the norm.
