Make waves with your views and get paid for it!

We are always on the lookout for people who are interested in taking part in paid market research by giving their opinions on new products and services via market research techniques such as online focus groups, surveys and online communities.

Below you will find a useful FAQ section for any questions you may have:

Who are Angelfish Opinions?

Established in 2011, Angelfish specialises in helping brands get in touch with their consumers. We know how important your opinions are to the brands that we work for and so we need your help!

We are always looking for people who are interested in giving their opinions on new products and services for the purposes of market research. So if you want to make sure your opinions are heard, and get paid for it, sign up here.

How does it work?

All brands want to understand what their consumers think about their products and services – this is where you come in! To do this they ask people like you for your thoughts and opinions, in the form of online surveys, focus groups, telephone interviews or online discussions!

To thank you for your time, we will provide you with an incentive. This will normally be cash or gift certificates and this varies for each study.

Can anyone join?

In a nutshell, yes – as long as you are over 16 years old. You don’t need to be qualified in anything; just interested in voicing your opinions and shaping the development of new products and services.

Once you have signed up, you will be given the opportunity to register your interest in individual projects. Each study has its own unique criteria, so we need to ensure you meet this too!

Is this legitimate?

Yes! We are a real company based in Cheltenham and we provide a valuable and well-established service that connects our clients with their most valuable consumers.

Our founders and directors have worked in Market research for over 40 years and understand the industry well. They also understand the importance of protecting our participants and take necessary actions to do so.

We are members of a number of relevant research bodies including Market Research Society, AQR and ESOMAR, that each help us to ensure we follow strict guidelines when it comes to market research.

You can read more about these bodies here:

What will the research be used for?

Research use varies for each study, however, findings from individuals or groups can be used to influence an organisations branding, market positioning and ethos. You can sign up here.

What happens next? How do I know if I've been selected to take part?

Depending on the information that you’ve given us, you could be contacted as soon as the next day. To ensure we are speaking to the right people each project has specific requirements so it may be that you are not eligible for certain projects that you apply for. If this is the case, don’t worry, we’ll have more invitations on their way to you soon.

If you have been successfully selected to take part in our research studies then a member of our team will contact you via email or phone to discuss the opportunity with you further.

If you don’t hear from us then please presume you haven’t met the criteria this time, but visit our Facebook and Twitter pages for more information about upcoming studies.

What is expected of me during the research?

If you are selected for a focus group or individual interview, you will be expected to give your full attention to the tasks at hand.

If this is in-person, this means turning up on time, bringing photo ID and turning your phone off. If you are taking part online, then we would kindly ask you to sit in a quiet location with no distractions.

We understand child-care can be difficult to find but we will also need you to leave your children at home/have someone else look after them when you are taking part (unless we have asked that they take part with you!)

You may also be filmed or recorded (not always; it depends on the criteria set by the client) but you will be informed at the outset whether filming is required or not and what will happen to these recordings!

As a thank you for taking part in a study, you will receive a generous incentive. Any travel costs should be covered within this reward. We try to recruit people who are close to the location of the study, so that travel is minimal. There may be parking available but this really depends on the location and can vary each time so please ask one of the team and they will be able to give you more information on the parking facilities.

How do I benefit?

Participating in paid market research such as focus groups, online surveys, telephone interviews and questionnaires has a wide range of benefits. For example, market research provides a platform for people to have a say in the future of products and services whilst still being able to earn extra money from home.

How often will invites be sent to me?

Why do I keep applying for studies, but I’m not successful?

We really appreciate your time and interest in applying to our projects. At Angelfish, we strive to include as many people as possible for our research, despite the high level of interest for our studies.

In order to be selected and short listed, our participants do have to meet strict criteria, as defined by our clients and this changes for each project. If you have a specific project you have not been selected for and would like to know why, please send us an email to and we’ll be happy to help!

Why do I get invitations to research I’m not suitable for?

We really try to only send email invitations to people we believe would be suitable for the study, based on the information you have given us.

There are many reasons why you may then have been unsuccessful, including strict criteria given to us by our client, quota management and/or a small sample size for the research. Unfortunately, we are unable to disclose too much information about criteria for our projects, so as to prevent biased answers on our online applications.

If you have a specific project you have not been selected for and would like to know why, please send us an email to and we’ll be happy to help!

I’ve just taken part in research. Can I take part again?

As an industry standard, our clients usually like us to find participants who haven’t taken part in any other market research in the past 6 months.

We do however have clients who reduce this to 3 months, or don’t have any restrictions on this at all so it is always worth applying!

What if I have other questions?

We are more than happy to answer any other questions you may have so please send us an email to and we’ll be happy to help! Alternatively, please call 01242 908872.
