Meet the Team: Five Minutes with Lisa

Today, we’re sitting down for five minutes with Lisa, one of our incredible directors here at Angelfish Opinions.

We love chatting with our team – so why not meet some more of our incredible humans, such as Project Administrator Brianna, Director of Operations Kelly, or Client Services Executive Harry!

Hi Lisa! Let’s get started: why did you decide to pursue a career in market research?

Ha! It 100% wasn’t something I actively pursued… I was working in recruitment and one of the jobs that I took on to place a candidate was working for a market research agency. I really liked the company and the people that I was working with to fill the position, so decided to apply for the trainee role myself!

What’s your favourite part of the job?

My favourite part of my role now as director is seeing not only the business develop and grow, but also the awesome team of people I have the pleasure of working with daily. I love the fact that I can strategically look at how to develop the business and push ourselves in different directions!

Tell us about an interesting project you’ve recently worked on and why you enjoyed it.

I don’t get to work very often on projects anymore now, which I truly do miss. However, I was recently involved in a project with one of our long-standing retail clients on a new venture for themselves.

It was an honour to be included in helping them understand the landscape of this potential new venture and be part of their journey. We are so lucky to be thought of as part of their team and enable their consumer voice to be heard.

What about a challenge you’ve recently faced and how you solved it?

Running a business is a constant challenge, mainly in a good way! Recently I have been working on our new financial and business goals for 2024/2025 whilst also ensuring that we keep focused for the last few months of the 2023/2024 financial year.

I’ve had to be extremely disciplined with my time and carve out dedicated time to have time to think, learn and review. I have listened to podcasts, read industry news, and tried to think a bit more outside of the box to think about goals and targets.

What are your professional goals for the next year?

To continue to develop strategies to allow the team to grow, learn and develop.

And how about the next market research industry trend?

Focusing on the voice of the customer – it is STILL unbelievably important, and now even more so!

Who inspires you and why? 

My Nana – she was a single mum in an era that this was frowned upon; she worked full time and had the most incredible job as one of the first female fashion buyers for Fenwick Department Store in Newcastle. She worked outrageously hard whilst raising her daughter and always had smile on her face.
